Merida, Mexico, October 2024 – The MoodleMoot Global 2024 conference proved to be a milestone event for educators, learning designers, and technologists worldwide. Held from October 22–24 in Merida, Mexico, this year’s MoodleMoot focused on the transformative power of technology in education, exploring themes of inclusivity, innovation, and the future of learning.
ModernLMS CEO Sam Suresh delivered an engaging presentation on October 21, titled “Optimising Outcomes with Report Builder.” The talk demonstrated the potential of Moodle’s Report Builder to streamline data analysis and improve decision-making for educators and administrators. Sam highlighted practical applications, showcasing how tailored reporting can lead to better learning outcomes and operational efficiency.
ModernLMS at Moodle Partner Global Day
ModernLMS also participated in the Global Moodle Partner Day on October 20, hosted at the same venue. This exclusive gathering brought together Moodle Certified Partners from around the world to discuss best practices, share success stories, and explore the future of Moodle’s ecosystem. Representing ModernLMS, Sam Suresh shared insights into how ModernLMS has been innovating within the Moodle space, particularly in Southeast Asia, where the company plays a pivotal role in advancing education technology.
Day 1: Redefining Learning Through Innovation
The conference began with a keynote by Moodle CEO Scott Anderberg, who celebrated Moodle’s 25-year journey and its impact on education globally. Other sessions included powerful stories of resilience and innovation, such as the Equip Palestine with E-Learning (E-Pal) project, which showcased Moodle’s ability to empower educators in conflict zones.
The day also highlighted advancements in virtual classrooms, with Fred Dixon of BigBlueButton demonstrating AI-powered analytics for enhancing engagement and personalising learning experiences.
Day 2: Exploring the Future of Education
The second day of the conference saw Moodle Founder Martin Dougiamas deliver an inspiring keynote, “What Will Education Feel Like in 2034?” Dougiamas painted a visionary picture of the future, where immersive technologies such as VR and AR, coupled with Moodle’s open-source ethos, redefine global learning.
Presentations like Creating Inclusive STEM Content with Ethical AI by Jarno Aantjes explored groundbreaking applications of AI to make learning more accessible, while Bachillerato en Línea Pilares from Mexico City highlighted the potential of Moodle in addressing real-world challenges through project-based learning.
